DUBVOCALIZA

About

DUBVOCALIZA "To be outspoken, strident, and articulate." The Evolution of Sound Established in 2010 by visionary frontman and dub poet Barrington Delevante, Dubvocaliza is a pioneering force in modern British reggae. Hailing from the vibrant London borough of Richmond Upon Thames, the six-piece collective transcends conventional genre boundaries, seamlessly fusing traditional roots reggae and dub with spoken word, atmospheric rock textures, and electronic soundscapes. What began as a solo spoken-word journey backed by rhythm tracks evolved into a formidable live band when Delevante united with kindred spirits. The lineup solidified with the addition of lead guitarist Kevin Draper—whose atmospheric, rock-infused ambiance recalls the emotive phrasing of Dave Gilmour—and powerhouse drummer Matt Curr, whose dynamic rock and metal sensibilities intertwine seamlessly with deep-bass dub loops. Rooted in the rich traditions of Jamaican reggae yet fearlessly experimental, Dubvocaliza draws stylistic parallels to Dennis Bovell’s Matumbi while echoing the hypnotic, genre-bending energy of Massive Attack, Faithless, and Pink Floyd. A Message of Universal Healing True to their name, Dubvocaliza delivers music with a purpose. Anchored by messages of optimism, love, peace, and universal healing, their catalog offers both a spiritual sanctuary and a catalyst for social consciousness. The band's prolific discography stands as a testament to their artistic depth, featuring five critically acclaimed albums: EarthRise Worlds Apart Between The Desert And Deep Blue Sea Reality Bites No Man's Land On Stage and Across Borders Renowned for the raw electricity of their live performances, Dubvocaliza features a robust lineup of bass, drums, keyboards, lead guitar, and dual vocal mastery. They have captivated audiences at prestigious music festivals and iconic venues throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, earning glowing acclaim from fans and critics alike.
