About
Cold July is a young band based in Guildford, UK that writes timeless, harmony-driven, Indie-Folk-Pop songs with classic singer-songwriter influences, delivered with a fresh, modern perspective that resonates across multiple generations of music fans. With a male/female co-lead dynamic and rich three-part harmonies, Cold July evokes Rumours era Fleetwood Mac and the California music scene of the 70s. Their music also draws from the melodic craftsmanship of Crowded House, the anthemic acoustic rock of the Goo Goo Dolls, the harmony-drenched indie folk of Flyte, and the strong emotional storytelling of Passenger and Phoebe Bridgers. Formed in May 2024 at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, the band bonded over their love of classic songwriting and an ambition to create lasting music. Though only 18, their songwriting shows a maturity beyond their years. This is clear in their debut single Song For Him, a heartfelt tribute written by lead singer Luke Fyfe in memory of a family friend. With soaring melodies, poignant lyrics and an epic acoustic rock arrangement, the song sets the tone for what Cold July represents. With a deep respect for music history and influences spanning from the 60s to today, Cold July carries a quiet confidence that is both endearing and electrifying. Their journey is just beginning, but their ambition and talent suggest they won’t remain a hidden gem for long.
